  Aged and Disability Rights Team
Who do we help?
Older people or people with disabilities and their representatives who:
  • receive services to their home such as Community Aged Care Packages (CACP),
    Extended Aged Care in the Home (EACH) and Home and Community Care (HACC)
    or live in an aged care facility
  • have been discriminated against because of their disability
  • want to know about their rights and how to obtain them
Your Rights
You have rights no matter where you live or how much assistance you need, including the right to:
  • be supported by an advocate
  • be consulted and provided with information
  • access to quality services
  • be treated with dignity, respect and to maintain your independence
  • feel safe
  • make a complaint

What can we provide?
We can give you information and help about your rights regarding:

  • where you live
  • care and services you are receiving
  • activities in your community
  • support, representation and referral
  • People not respecting your culture
  • problems where you work
  • access to an interpreter
 

We also provide

  • community awareness
  • activities
  • fact sheets

The Aged and Disability Rights Team is based in Darwin, visits Katherine monthly and provides services across the Top End of the NT.

The Aged and Disability Rights Team is funded by the Commonwealth Departments of Health and Ageing, Attorney General’s, and Families, Community Services and the Indigenous Affairs and the NT Department of Health and Community Services.
