Homelessness Project

The Homelessness Legal Service assists people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.

We can provide free legal advice, assistance and referral.

The Homelessness Legal Service may:

  • Advise you on your specific legal problems
  • Negotiate and advocate on your behalf
  • Help you with writing letters or with other legal documents

Occasional advice sessions are held at other locations in the Darwin area.

Telephone or face-to-to face appointments are available at the DCLS office. Please contact us on freecall 1800 812 953 to make an appointment or for an outreach advice session time.

The Homelessness Legal Service also engages in law and policy reform in the area of housing and homelessness, and provides community legal education about people’s legal rights and responsibilities.

If you require an interpreter (including Auslan) we can provide one for free.
